NBA Draft 2016 Rumors: 76ers Prefer Ben Simmons Over Brandon Ingram

24 May 2016

Chad Ford of ESPN reported that Simmons had the slight edge on Los Angeles' draft board on Tuesday, while Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report said that the team was "wowed" by Ingram during a pre-draft interview at the combine in Chicago while Philadelphia prefers Simmons.

Now that the anxiously awaited draft lottery has come to a close and the Philadelphia 76ers have landed the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2016 NBA Draft, a new dilemma has emerged: Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram? As an example, if the Kings had been awarded the No. 1 overall pick Tuesday night and the Sixers got the No. 4 overall pick, the two teams would have been forced to swap.

'He gives me a lot of advice, if I ever need him he's there for me, I respect him so much, he's a great player, ' Simmons said.

The US-born Brown, who also coached the Australian Olympic team in London, has known Simmons since he was a baby. His gifts are obvious. It's possible that he may get pushed around at the professional level by bigger bodies in the league, but if he puts the work in to build some muscle and to improve his strength, conditioning, and footwork, he has the potential to be a formidable force in the future.

I know that the ping-pong balls determine the draft order, but in all honesty, this is the last thing that the National Basketball Association wanted.

According to a report by Lakers Nation, the Los Angeles Lakers are "thrilled" to be in the running for Duke star Brandon Ingram.

He has what Simmons doesn't - a good outside shot. He's a point forward who is a matchup nightmare.

The Lakers have appointed former Golden State assistant Luke Walton as their new head coach, and the hype around Simmons would fill some of the void left by the retirement of Kobe Bryant.
