Samsung Galaxy S9 To Use SLP Mainboard [REPORT]

09 Agosto 2017

Once Samsung finalizes the switch to SLP, the number of suppliers will be reduced to four.

Samsung's plan for the 2019 Galaxy S9 is to fit a bigger battery inside it. A bigger battery usually means a thicker or larger phone unless you are able to shrink the size of the other components.

The new S8 Active model loses the edge-to-edge screen design of the standard models, which is a key selling point of the device, in favor of a frame for improved durability. However, it has been making it to the news quite frequently over the past few months. Because technical entry barrier is generally high for SLP, it is likely that feelings of joy and sorrow will be clearly divided between corresponding businesses and companies only mass-production and supply of SLPs start.

It appears that Samsung will take the same route if a report from ETNews is to be believed. It just so happens that Samsung is, yet again, a close follower rather than a leader. It is rated to survive immersion in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The Korean electronics giant will reportedly use Y-OCTA display technology on the S9, the same technology it used on the Galaxy S8. The use of Y-OCTA has led to a decline in demand for Touch Screen Panels. The iPhone 8's mainboard is also expected to pack SLP tech, reports said.

Samsung's gen-next Galaxy S-series flagship will still not feature an under-display fingerprint scanner!

The South Korean company will be using such a technology for the first time in Galaxy S9 which is expected to be launched in the first half of 2018. According to ET News, it will not only connect major smartphone components ranging from the SoC to NAND flash memory and DRAM, but its efficiency level will also improve. The report states that Samsung is currently sourcing substrates from 10 different companies. Samsung and Synaptics had been working together for a long time on the technology. Other expected features include 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB of built-in storage, Android O software, dual camera system, and wireless charging.
