Jamie Vardy bemoans "lapses in concentration" at Arsenal

12 Agosto 2017

The long wait is finally over.

Arsenal staged a dramatic fightback to kick off the new Premier League season with a thrilling 4-3 victory against Leicester on Friday (Aug 11). "He can play on the left side but also in central defence. He came here tonight and got the goals his performance deserved".

Dejected and unable to undo the zip on my Arsenal coat that happens to a couple of sizes too big, I have returned to my laptop, so you are stuck with me for the time being. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter.

Honestly, you could not have asked for more to open the Premier League season for the 2017-18 campaign.

First, in the 86th minute, it was Ramsey who put in a goal to even everything up late in the match at 3 apiece.

Regaining belief Arsenal went for the jugular.

Wenger wouldn't say if any bids had come in for Sanchez.

"So we conceded two goals from corner, we were quite good last season on corners". The Egyptian international saw Lacazette lurking at the back post, and flicked a looping cross over the defense on a silver platter, and all Lacazette had to do was deliver a stunningly accurate header perfectly past Kasper Schmeichel but tucked inside the post. Well actually, it's not really a choice as Petr Cech is always going to be picked ahead of David Ospina. Arsenal's penchant for starting seasons by getting a wobble in early has become something of an epidemic. Robert Huth is the third absentee from Shakespeare's squad. Leicester re-took the lead on 58 minutes, with Vardy heading home Riyad Mahrez's corner.

"I'm convinced in 10 or 15 years it will not necessarily be a football specialist who is a manager of a club".

Arsenal haven't lost three consecutive opening day fixtures since 1960.

One player the Frenchman is backing to adapt to the Premier League quickly is Arsenal's other new summer signing, Sead Kolasinac.

Will Lacazette enjoy an emphatic Arsenal debut on Friday?

The 26-year-old might not be as deadly as the Chilean.

Granit Xhaka's sloppy pass was picked up by Albrighton and he forged down the left flank before bending a sublime cross into the danger area that Vardy tapped home. And against a Leicester side that often struggles against pace, Lacazette could be a frightening prospect.

"It's fantastic. I opened the door for him at some stage because I know it's important for him to play, but I don't want to him to go", Wenger told reporters.

Wenger was also without three of his top centre-backs on the pitch - suspended Laurent Koscielny, injured Per Mertesacker and Shkodran Mustafi, who remained on the bench - and said the defensive mistakes can be ironed out quickly.
