Jones beats Cormier by TKO at UFC 214

12 Agosto 2017

UFC fighter Jon Jones (23-1) reclaimed his light heavyweight title on Saturday night (July 29), defeating title-holder Daniel Cormier (19-2) at UFC 214.

"I want to thank Daniel Cormier for being my biggest rival and motivator", Jones said. "Stop asking for retired fighters, I've been waiting to put my hands on you and so have all the fans".

Cormier has since released a statement explaining his heartbreak following the defeat and now, reactions from both corners to the brutal ending to the fight have also been made available.

In the post-fight interview, an obviously distraught and emotional Cormier is seen on the verge of tears. "He has absolutely no reason to hang his head".

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, rumors of Brock Lesnar leaving WWE to return to UFC have been rampant as of late, with some reports suggesting that Lesnar may depart WWE sometime early next year, possibly after WrestleMania 34 in the spring.

Woodley was able to avoid takedown attempt after takedown attempt from Maia, and stayed patient in picking when to strike to claim a unanimous decision.

"Would I fight Jon Jones?".

"I just think it's a winnable matchup", Jones said. Jones opened as a -300 favorite, with Lesnar coming in at +250, per the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.

Lesnar is at least considering a return to the sport in which he won a UFC title in just his fourth professional fight. Again, congrats to Team Jones and JacksonWink.

While speaking with reporters later, Jones said he is serious about wanting to fight Lesnar.

Lesnar's WWE contract will expire in the spring, and nobody really knows what he's going to do next.

At that point, referee John McCarthy had little choice but to stop the fight.

But it's definitely a lucrative possibility for 2018 if Lesnar decides to resume training for MMA. The former light heavyweight contender spoke with MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani on Monday to discuss life after retirement and named his terms for ending it. White said the fight could have been stopped "three, four or five punches earlier".
