The Catalan giants have already seen two bids rejected by the Merseyside club for Coutinho, the most recent being worth £90 million.

A statement issued by Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool's US-based owners, said: "We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho".

Liverpool will not win the Premier League or Champions League this season regardless of whether they keep Philippe Coutinho, according to club icon Graeme Souness.

Barcelona have also had a bid rejected for Borussia Dortmund's 20-year-old forward Ousmane Dembele since they sold Brazil forward Neymar to Paris St-Germain for a world record £200m last week.

Speaking at a news conference previewing Saturday's league match at Watford (12:30 BST kick-off), manager Jurgen Klopp said Coutinho would miss the season opener with a back problem.

Coutinho will be out of action this weekend when Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign against Watford due to a back injury.

Liverpool issued a statement through the club website on Friday morning and it's pretty clear.

Liverpool Football Club have announced their 32 man squad for their double headed Champions League play-off fixture against Hoffenheim set to take place this month.

As far as he is concerned, though, a line has been drawn and a close family member was quoted as saying: 'Philippe has tried very hard to find an amicable solution to this situation but to no avail.

Liverpool will not be selling Coutinho at any price.

Liverpool new boy Mohamed Salah is expected to make his competitive debut for the Anfield outfit tomorrow as Klopp looks to cope without Coutinho, but you can flip a coin on whether or not Andy Robertson will be given the same honour as the Scotsman competes with the likes of James Milner and Alberto Moreno for a spot on the flank. "No he is not available, he is also a doubt for Tuesday, unfortunately".

'I had to sell a lot of players in my managerial career, ' said Klopp, who said his own pursuit of players will run until August 31.
