Irma has weakened and is now moving north. The storm caused extensive damage in the Florida Keys and record flooding nearly 400 miles north in Jacksonville, according to The Associated Press.

Since it developed into a tropical storm on August 30, Hurricane Irma has hit Florida, Cuba, and a number of smaller nations in the Caribbean.

Among the dead in Georgia was a woman who died from injuries she suffered when a tree fell on a vehicle in a private driveway.

"They told me there is definitely water in the downstairs apartment, which is me", said Keeney, a concierge at the Hyatt in Key West.
