For a team that had Super Bowl aspirations heading into the year, the 2017 season has been a nightmare from day one.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie arrived at the Giants practice facility Thursday morning and met with head coach Ben McAdoo. His leaving resulted in McAdoo and the team deciding on the suspension, which at this point is indefinite. The second-year coach had met with Rodgers-Cromartie on Tuesday and told him that he would not be active for this Sunday's game in Denver because of something the 31-year-old said or did during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Giants promoted cornerback Donte Deayon from the practice squad to fill the spot of Rodgers-Cromartie, who was placed on the team's reserve/suspended list.

McAdoo is now not scheduled to speak with the media Thursday after practice, but requests have been made for that to change.

"He came in today, chose to leave", McAdoo said. Rodgers-Cromartie loses $410,588 in pay each week he's suspended.

McAdoo said his team had a great practice Wednesday when asked about the possibility of losing the team's confidence in him. "Chose to leave and we will put him on suspension".

Rodgers-Cromartie left the bench area and went into the locker room during the second half of the loss to the Chargers, according to someone with knowledge of what transpired. I was suspended way before I left.

The 31-year-old Rodgers-Cromartie is in the midst of his fourth season with the G-Men, and he has registered 26 tackles, 0.5 sacks and no interceptions for 0-5 NY. "I left [because] I felt what he said was BS".
